We have seen catastrophic failures like the “reforge” of Warcraft III. With good intentions and better developers they can be given a second life. If there’s something that the rise of Tzared proves is that old games haven’t lost any of their charm. In fact, they plan to go well beyond that with the addition of mods and their own features to further improve the game. Tzared is still being developed today, and the developers said that they intend to bring Tzar to its former glory, including maps and campaigns. This new Tzar comes with a vengeance, and it could and should be called a remaster in its own right. That’s right: you can even choose among them. It had units such as spies that could disguise as the enemy, orcs and dwarves that you could summon from a magic gate and even ninjas and kung fu monks. It had a few things in common with age of empires and warcraft 2, but its fantasy and lore always came across to me as something unique and full of charm. ![]() I was one of the players of ye good olde Tzar and I was blown away by its features, its details and its midi medieval music. One such gem was Tzar: the Burden of the Crown, by Haemimont Games. Yet in this genre there are some hidden gems that never quite became as popular as the others. ![]() RTS Giants like Command and Conquer, Warcraft and Age of Empires saw some of their greatest titles released with the dawn of the new millennium. Before the takeover of Open World and Battle Royale.
